PRIVAT HOMES

NURSES / CAREGIVERS

​

All Angelbee Nursing Service’s (ANS's) Service Providers (nurses / caregivers) are expected to adhere to the highest standards of care and generally to conduct him/herself with professionalism. Failure to do so will result in remedial action that may include termination of service depending on the severity of the breach involved.

​

​All persons representing ANS including management must take all reasonable actions to ensure that care provided is acceptable and satisfactory to the client and his/her significant other(s), which requires that activities are carried out in such a way that the client’s physical and emotional comfort and privacy are maintained; safety is ensured, and respect and positive regard are expressed by staff and perceived by the client.

​

The following must be always adhered to while in service to Angelbee Nursing Service’s clients.​​​

 

CONFIDENTIALITY

​

All caregivers are bound by a duty of confidentiality to every client served and as such will safeguard the privacy of information shared with him/her during the commission of his/her duty. Clients have the right to know that private matters will remain private, within their homes. Hence, nurses | caregivers are charged with the responsibility to share Information gleaned through the client/caregiver relationship according to the following protocol only:

​

​Disclosure of client’s information to legal authorities - Where records have been requested by the courts - subpoenas and court orders, bearing in mind that in a home-care situation the client’s records are not in the custody of the nurse | caregiver. However, questions asked in such a situation must be answered with total honesty.

​

​Disclosure to third parties: where the client is escorted to keep a medical appointment professional, however, care must be taken to ensure that only relevant parts of the client's history is communicated, e.g., an occupational therapist does not need a gynecological history.

​

​Public safety issues: Where public safety is at risk, which requires that sensitive health data be conveyed to health officials as part of the information provided in medical history.

​

​Relatives of the patient: Where the client expresses – verbally or in writing, consent for information to be shared with significant others such as co-habiting spouse, or co-habiting parent, or offspring. It should not be presumed that any relative has a right to access the client’s information hence the client’s permission should always be sought, where possible before sharing.

​

​Disclosure to a near relative may also be reasonable where the nurse/caregiver is considering withholding the information from the client and communicates it to a near relative to assess whether it should be withheld.

​

​Clients who are not capable of exercising their rights concerning health care matters should of course be able to have those rights exercised on their behalf by an appropriate representative. Hence information regarding children and clients who are mentally incapable must be shared with parents or guardians, which may include children or spouses.

​

CLIENT SAFETY

​

All nurses / caregivers will ensure that the job is completed with due care; those procedures undertaken are those which he |she is trained to carry out and that all care is taken to ensure the client’s safety.

 

CLIENT SATISFACTION

​

​All care provided must be acceptable to the client and his/her significant other(s) and must be deemed satisfactory by the client. This requires that procedures are carried out in such a way that the client’s physical and emotional comfort and privacy are maintained; safety is ensured; respect is expressed, and perceived and positive regard is felt by the client.

 

RECORDING AND REPORTING

​

​The nurse / caregiver has the responsibility to ensure that all relevant information is recorded, and applicable reports are made where necessary. To this end relevant stationery can be provided.

 

EXPERT CARE

​

​Suitable expertise is required for all jobs done. A nurse / caregiver assigned to a job when not suitably qualified to carry out all the requirements of the job, must be supplemented by a nurse with the required expertise, which has to be arranged by the client or his/her representative. Where this occurs, the supplementary nurse assigned must ensure that he/she carries out the job assigned and that this is not left to the less qualified nurse to carry out.

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE AND GROOMING

​

​All Caregivers must dress in a manner appropriate for the job to allow for ease of movement and client safety and satisfaction. All caregivers must:

​

1.     Be professionally attired in a white uniform or scrubs and comfortable nursing shoes.

​

2.     ​Have hair properly groomed in a modest hairstyle and off the collar.

​

3.     ​Have clean fingernails of appropriate length and color.

​

4.     ​Be free of encumbering jewelry and strong scents (creams, lotions perfumes, etc., which can provoke allergic or                          hypersensitivity reactions in the client or may be unpleasant to the client.

​

5.     ​Wear a properly fitting mask, which covers the nose and mouth at all times while in the client’s presence.

 

PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS | PROFESSIONALISM

​

​All nurses | and caregivers must ensure that:

1.     All actions on the job support the maintenance of good professional relationships with clients and their significant others,          as well as colleagues, and not even a suggestion of intent to develop liaisons of an unprofessional nature is made.

​

2.     All reasonable efforts are made to ensure your security when operating in anyone’s home.

​

3.     visitors are never invited or allowed to visit a client’s home or be entertained while on duty outside the client’s home.

​

4.     ​Reaping of produce on client's property is never done unless requested by the client and that where this is requested by              the client, there is no assumption of the right to a portion of this produce, by the nurse.

​

5.     ​Cell phone use is kept to a minimum, indulged in only when essential and done discretely, and that cell phone charging is          done at home, not in the client’s home, except in an emergency and with expressed permission from the client.

​

6.     ​Headphones or Bluetooth are never worn on duty.

​

7.     ​Sleeping on the job only occurs when and if there is an agreed break time and, in the place, agreed with the client.

​

8.     Any intent to be absent from duty is made known to the client in advance to allow for a replacement to be sent in.

​

9.     Never expose clients to reports or complaints about your personal issues or make requests for access or privileges that                were not agreed on prior to accepting the job e.g., salary advance, loans, computer use, Wi-fi access, meals,  

        transportation, etc.

​

10.  ​Never make requests for increase in wages except through ANS and only when this is appropriate e.g., where hours or               duties are increased.

​

11.  Complaints about the Service (ANS) matters.

 

TIMELINESS

​

​The Caregiver has the duty and obligation to appear on duty at the time agreed and to complete tasks within a reasonable time. Where unforeseen circumstances may result in a late appearance on the job, the CHN must communicate this to the client or his/her representative before the appointed time and take all reasonable actions to arrive at work soonest.

​​

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

​

All nurses | caregivers starting a new job placement must presume a probationary period of three (3) to six (6) months unless told otherwise. This gives both the nurse | caregiver and client a period to decide if they are a good fit, without having any obligations to remain in an agreement that might be undesirable to either party.

Nurses | caregivers who fail to carry out their duties in a manner that is satisfactory to the client will expose him/herself to summary dismissal during the probationary period or dismissal with notice after probation has ended.

PRIVATE HOMES

HOUSEKEEPERS | COOKS | GARDENERS/GROUNDSMEN

 

All Angelbee Nursing Service’s (ANS's) service providers (housekeepers | cooks | gardeners | groundsmen) are expected to adhere to the highest standard of service and generally to conduct him/herself in a way that reflects positively on ANS. Failure to do so will result in remedial action that may include termination of service depending on the severity of the breach involved.

​

​All persons representing ANS including management must take all reasonable actions to ensure that the service provided is acceptable and satisfactory to the client and his/her significant other(s), which requires that activities are carried out in such a way that the client’s physical and emotional comfort and privacy are maintained; safety is ensured, and respect and positive regard are expressed by the service provider and perceived by the client.

 

Otherwise, the following must be adhered to while in service to Angelbee Nursing Service’s clients. 

​

CLIENT SAFETY

​

All service providers must ensure that their actions do not expose the client to any level of risk. Be reminded that key bits of information can allow a cunning individual to gain illegal access to your employer. For example, never discuss the contents of your client's home, their planned vacation time when the home will be left unattended, the intricacies of accessing the property or the house, access codes that might come into your possession, key location if there is any, the guard dog's weakness for any particular food, etc. ​

 

CONFIDENTIALITY

​

All service providers must keep private, any information of a personal nature shared with you by a client. Clients have the right to know that private matters will remain private, within their homes. Hence, service providers at all levels are charged with treating all information gleaned about the client, with discretion and should only share information about the client if the client asks them to do so.​​​

 

CLIENT SATISFACTION

​

​Service providers must complete each job with due care with the client's satisfaction being the result. Where you are assigned to a location with multiple clients and varying expectations, please aim to satisfy the highest level of expectation and not simply the expectation that requires the least effort. So, whether you are cleaning a house, cooking a meal, taking care of the garden, or doing some repair work around the house, determine the highest level of expectation, that is how the job is to be done to the highest standard, and aim to achieve that.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE AND GROOMING

​

​All service providers must dress in a manner appropriate for the job to allow.

​​

Housekeepers | Cooks must:

​

1.   Be clean and appropriately attired while in the client's household in a modest dress or pants/skirt and top, with no inappropriate exposure or imprinting of body parts.

​

2.   Have hair properly groomed in a modest hairstyle and off the collar.

​

3.   Have clean fingernails of appropriate length and color.

​

4.   Be free of encumbering jewelry and strong scents (creams, lotions perfumes, etc., which can cause allergic or hypersensitivity reactions in the client or may be unpleasant to the client.

​

2.   Wear a properly fitting mask at all times required, while in the client’s presence.

​

​Gardener / Groundsman must:

​

1.    Be clean at the start of the day and appropriately attired for the job to be done with pants at the waist and no exposed underwear.

​

2.   Have hair clean and groomed

​

3.   Wear a properly fitting mask at all times required, while in the client’s presence.

 

​WORK RELATIONSHIPS | WORK ETHICS

​

All service providers must ensure that:

​

1.  All actions on the job support the maintenance of good professional relationships with clients, and colleagues, and that relations remain pleasant and never familiar.

​

2.   All reasonable efforts are made to ensure your security when operating in the client’s home.

​

​3.   Personal visitors are never invited or allowed to visit a client’s home. ​

​

4.   Reaping of produce on the client's property is never done unless requested by the client and where this is requested by the client, there is no assumption of the right to a portion of this produce, by the service provider

​

​5.   Cell phone use is kept to a minimum, indulged in only when essential and done discretely when in service inside the client’s house; headphones or Bluetooth are never used in a manner that prevents easy hearing of communication from the client; and charging of phone is done at home, not in the client’s home, except in an emergency and with permission from the client.

​

​6.   Sleeping on the job only occurs when and if there is an agreed break time and, in the place, agreed with the client.

​

7.   Intent to be absent from duty is made known to the client in advance to allow for a replacement to be sent in.​

​

8.   The client is never exposed to reports or complaints ANS or about personal issues or requests for access or privileges that were not agreed on before accepting the job e.g., salary advance, loans, computer use, Wi-fi access, meals, transportation, etc.

​

​9. Request for wage increase is never made except through ANS and only when appropriate e.g., where hours or duties are increased.

​

10.   You do not habitually fix yourself meals at the client's home, from the client's stores, unless you are a live-in and this is               part of the deal; nor ask the client for meals. Feel free to accept if it is offerred.

​

11.  ​You never make requests for increase in wages except through ANS and only when this is appropriate e.g., where hours or          duties are increased.

​

12.  You never complain about ANS matters to the client.

​

TIMELINESS

​

NURSING HOMES

HOUSEKEEPERS | COOKS | GARDENERS/GROUNDSMEN

 

When assigned to a nursing home by Angelbee Nursing Service (ANS) as a service provider you are expected to conduct yourself so that your behavior reflects positively on ANS.   

​

The following outlines the expectations of all nurses/caregivers, housekeepers, gardeners, cooks, and gardener/groundsman assigned a job in a nursing home by ANS.

​

These expectations must be met as long as you remain in the employ of the client and until the relationship is terminated, verbally or in writing, by either you or the management, with two weeks’ notice; after the probationary period or summarily before that.

​

When assigned to a nursing home, you must ensure that you:

​

1.     Respect and observe all the rules, regulations, and protocols of the nursing home in which you are employed.

​

2.     Arrive at work on time and are only absent when necessary.

​

3.     Inform your supervisor of your intent to be absent from duty, in advance, to allow for a replacement to be put in place.

​

4.     Are never absent from duty without seeking approval from the supervisor or report for duty late without advising said supervisor.

​

5.     Complete any job assigned to you, with due care and to the required standard.

​

6.     Maintain polite and respectful relationships with all residents of the home and their significant other(s), your colleagues and supervisors, and anyone you come in contact with when carrying out your duties.

​

7.     Never use threatening or abusive language to anyone while on duty.

​

8.     Never engage in illegal or immoral acts while assigned to a client by ANS.

​

9.     Never use the residents’ property in an unauthorized manner.

​

10.   Never steal or willfully damage or destroy property belonging to residents of the nursing home, your colleagues, or the nursing home.

​

11.   Never take a weapon (knife or gun, legal or illegal) on the job.

​

12.   Never refuse or fail to carry out the instructions of a supervisor without a reason that can be clearly and convincingly explained.

​

13.   Never ignore duties or loaf around during working hours.

​

14.   Take proper care of the client’s tools and equipment.

​

15.   Never hold discussions on matters occurring in the home, with the relatives of the residents of the home unless it is your assigned duty to provide relatives with specific information and where only that information is delivered.

​

16.   Charge your cell phone before arriving at work and only charge it at work where permission was received from management or his/her representative.

​

17.   Never allow or entertain personal visitors while on duty inside the home or outside of the home while accompanying residents.

​

18.   Never enter into any financial arrangement with residents of the nursing home or relatives of residents or their contacts.
